My appointment today

Here he is!!

Hey guys...I guess that it is good news and bad news. Good news is that my cervix hasn't opened any more and that Jake is growing normally, he's actually above average in weight, so that's good. Bad news is that while the cervix isn't opening more, it's not closing by itself. And with the infection and not knowing what's going on, I can't have the cerclage surgery because I could get another infection.

Dr. Greig has put me on TOTAL bedrest, I can be upstairs or down, but I have to lay down. I can't walk, so I have to get my hands on a wheelchair. I can get up to go to the bathroom. That's about it. No driving, no swimming or any other activites in the water, no sitting up for long periods (I have to drop a class since I can't take tests in the testing center), no flying up to NH to see my littlest sister graduate high school.

There's worse news that I'm trying not to think about. I'm at extremely high risk of preterm labor and my water breaking. Right now if that happens there is nothing that they can do to stop it. There is NOTHING wrong with the baby, Jake is perfectly healthy, I am just having a problem carrying him. They don't know why this is happening to me, I am a healthy 23 year old normally. So, we don't know. Our doctor told us that it's still about 7 weeks before Jake could survive out of the womb (I'm 17 1/2 weeks pregnant) so we're trying to keep him in for as long as possible.

I'm going to need a lot of help. Mandy's talking about organizing food for me and my family, and I appreciate that. Dan helps as much as he can, but I do need some edible food :) Lindsey's enrolled in summer session at her MMO on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so that will be nice. I am in great need of my friends, being as I am 1000 miles away from my family. Our family really appreciates all the thoughts and prayers that you have been sending us, and we hope that you can continue to keep us in your thoughts. This is the scariest thing that I have ever been through, and I could use the support of all of my friends.

Thanks to all of you.

Beckie, Dan, Lindsey and Jake
